PVA and Cloth Exploration

We started by covering the chair with cling film making sure every part was covered. To be experimental we used different kinds of chair in different angles.

With our mutton cloth/jersey fabric and tights we draped, wrapped, layered and covered the chair. To hold the position of the fabric we stapled and sewed it. We kept on going until the chair was covered.

Then with a mixture of PVA and water we covered the chair putting on in layers. As the PVA dries it hardens the surface which will allow us to take the shape off the chair.

Visit to the V & A (Postmodernism: Style and Subversion 1970-1990)

I visited the exhibition in V&A that dealt with the rise of postmodernism in every aspects of art and design, from architecture to ceramics, fashion and music. There were works of important people from the movement like Ettore Sottsass and Robert Venturi. Their architectural designs were strong and structured but featured arches and asymmetrical rooftops and windows.
I was able to reference this exhibition to my research for our group word 'angular' not just because the works featured in the exhibition were architectural and graphic but postmodernism as a whole was a complex mixture of different styles and influence.
